FULL TIME - Orchard & Grounds Management Trainee For Immediate Hire.
Sutter’s Ridge Farm is seeking a hands-on, self-directed leader to oversee orchard care, grounds, maintenance, equioment readiness, seasonal harvest coordination and upkeep. This is a role for someone who enjoys the outdoors, takes ownership, solves problems and wants visible responsibility in a family-owned operation.
the role is ideal for someone from horticulture, agriculture, tree care or similar outdoor operations environment. This is a trainee position with the end goal of co-manager with owners. A candidate does not need orchard experience to succeed in this role but must be open to outdoor tasks and able to learn orchard-specific details quickly.
JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS:
Orchard care, pruning, disease/pest monitoring & control and harvesting.
Field crop (Pumpkin) planting, weed control, fertilizing and harvesting of pumpkins & raspberries.
Maintain infrastructure such as sheds, fences, signage, trellis systems and grounds.
Supervise and work alonside small crew picking, bagging, apple cider production and hoeing during growing/ harvest season.
Assist with deliveries, coordinate cooler space, shop organization.
Assist with tractors and equipment maintenance.
Customer assistance and retail sales.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
High character, strong work ethic and willingness to own outcomes
Comfort working outdoors in all seasons with the ability to lift 40 pounds (bushel of apples) with ease.
Ability to see the broad picture, prioritize & organize work and lead others.
Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort with equipment
Experience in horticulture, agriculture, grounds/nursery work or related outdoor operations is helpful but not required.
Be available to work weekends Mid August thru October, and have the desire to progress to full manager as experience and knowledge progresses.
